Common Sense House

2012

Boldly revealing its structure rendered in exposed concrete, the house resembles a hollowed grid of slender columns and beams filled in by planes of glass, oak panels, and pine slats. While undoubtedly masculine in character, the house is softened by the extensive use of oak in the walls. Carefully placed patterns in the walls echo the house’s mathematical proportion and bring the spaces to a human scale. The Common Sense house is truly an exercise of process and proportion, of common sense and high style.
